PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

PEO 1: To prepare students to excel in industrial / graduate work in Civil Engineering & allied fields and postgraduate programs to succeed in field / technical profession through global, rigorous education.

PEO 2: To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals to solve engineering problems and also to pursue higher studies.

PEO 3: To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth so as to comprehend, analyze, design and create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.

PEO 4: To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach and an ability to relate civil engineering issues to broader social context.

PEO 5: To provide students with an academic environment aware of excellence, leadership, written ethical codes and guidelines, and the lifelong learning needed for a successful professional career.

 Program Outcomes (POs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

PO1.    Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and engineering specialization to the solution of Civil engineering problems.

PO2.    Problem Analysis: Indentify, formulate, and analyze Civil engineering problems to arrive at substantiated conclusions using the principles of mathematics, and engineering sciences.

PO3.    Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for Civil engineering problems and design system components, processes to meet the specifications with consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4.    Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.

PO5.    Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to Civil engineering problems with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6.    The Engineer and Society: Apply critical reasoning by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the Civil engineering practice.

PO7.    Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the Civil engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8.    Ethics: An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.

PO9.    Individual and Teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10. Communication: Ability to communication effectively. Be able to comprehend and write effective reports documentation.

PO11. Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply this to Civil engineering problem.

PO12. Life-Long Learning: Ability to engage in life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

 

Program Specific Outcomes(PSOs)

  1.  Innovative Design in Civil Engineering. The ability to create innovative designs with new materials of minimum embodied energy through research and development focusing on global quality of life by observing professional ethics.
  2.  Civil Engineering and Sustainability : The ability to recognize the need of the hour like housing, sanitation, waste management, irrigation, use of renewable energy etc for a sustainable environment.
  3.  Civil Engineering Analysis and Design tools : The ability to analyze the effects of natural calamities like earthquakes, landslides etc. including disaster management and to design stable structures for relevant stress resultants.
