In contrast to its parent field of computing science, which has gotten increasingly elusive, data science has become incredibly widespread nowadays. While most computer science educational institutions now concentrate on specialization for the IT industry rather than core computer science, some still emphasize the pure science that underpins computing’s various facets. Pardon me if I sound like I’m speaking to an audience that is mass producing computer-trained professionals. The most significant feature of the education provided here is this. The goal upon which our department was established has not changed.
